Drug Uses

Effexor XR is used to treat depression caused by imbalance of serotonin and norepinephrine-two.

How Taken

This drug is taken orally. Do not take Effexor XR on empty stomach. Do not chew, crash or divide tablet. Take it whole washed up with a glass of water.

Warnings/Precautions

Notify your medical specialist of using any other prescription or over-the-counter drugs including antidepressants and MAOIs. Do not drink alcohol during therapy. Inform your doctor of changes in your mood especially when you use Effexor XR for the first time. It is recommended to check your blood pressure regularly. Do not start using this medicine without your doctor's approval. Do not stop using Effexor XR even if you feel much better. Notify your medical specialist of becoming irritable, restless, hostile or agitated. You may need lower or higher dose of Effexor XR.

Missed Dose

If you missed your regular dose wait for the next scheduled time to take tablet. Do not take two doses at once. Follow the dosing and intake frequency exactly under the prescription of your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

Contact your medical specialist or apply for emergency treatment if any of side effects listed below took place:

• dizziness
• tremor
• nausea
• vomiting
• difficulty breathing
• allergy
• swelling of the face
• seizures
• insomnia
• agitation
• changes in appetite
• abdominal pain
• upset stomach
• high blood pressure
• sexual problems
• increased blood cholesterol level

Storage

This medicine should be stored at a room temperature below 25°C/77°F. Keep Effexor XR away from moisture.

Overdose

Get immediate medical care if you have taken more than prescribed quantity of this medicine. Overdose may cause numbness, dizziness, seizures, unconsciousness, nausea and irregular heartbeats.

More Information

Effexor XR should be taken only after consulting a doctor or pharmacist. This drug should be taken carefully if combined with other medicines. Drinking alcoholic beverages may lead to confusion, dizziness and drowsiness. Follow the directions of your medical specialist. Do not increase or decrease your regular dose. Changing regular dose without doctor approval may lead to undesired consequences.
