Singulair

Common uses

Singulair is used for asthma and fever treatment. Using this medicine improves symptoms of fever and asthma by blocking leukotrienes in the body.

Before using

Do not start or stop using Singulair without your doctor approval. Notify your doctor of taking any prescription and over-the-counter medicines including phenytoin, carbamazepine, rifamphin, etc. Tell your doctor of having experienced certain medical conditions (blood disorders, allergies, liver disease. Inform your doctor of pregnancy or nursing. Ask your doctor of possible risks and side effects of using Singulair during pregnancy or breast-feeding.

Directions

Singulair may be taken with or without food. Patients with asthma should take regular dose once a day in the evening. Patients with seasonal allergic rhinitis may take regular dose in the morning or in the evening. This drug should be stored in cool dark place at a room temperature. Keep it in tightly closed container. Try not to miss your regular dose. Do not double-up your regular dose. If you miss your dose, wait until time for next dose comes. Do not reduce or increase your daily dose. Chew the tablet thoroughly before swallowing.

Cautions

Contact your doctor if you experience any unusual symptoms during all the period of treatment. Make sure to carry bronchodilator inhaler to treat sudden asthma attacks. Do not start or stop using this medicine without your doctor approval. Notify your doctor of using any other prescription or over-the-counter medicines. Ask your doctor for details of drug interactions. Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant or nursing baby without first consulting to your physician. It is not approved that this drug is absolutely safe for human fetus or newborn.

Possible side effects

Consult to your doctor, nurse or pharmacist in case of any side effects appearing during Singulair treatment. Taking this medicine sometimes may cause:

• headache
• vomiting
• diarrhea
• nausea
• mouth pain
• trouble sleeping
• fever
• hallucinations
• flu symptoms
• sore throat
• ear-cache
• irregular heartbeat
• bleeding
• seizures
• allergy
• swelling

If you take too much

Singulair overdose may cause drowsiness, severe stomach pain or drowsiness. Apply for emergency care or contact your medical specialist if overdose occurred.

Additional information

Keep this drug away from the reach of children and pets. Do not give this medicine to others whom it was not prescribed.
