Altace

Common uses

Altace is prescribed to treat high blood pressure and congestive heart disease. It is also prescribed to patients with some other medical conditions.

Before using

Do not start of stop using Altace without your doctor's approval. Do not stop taking this medicine even if you feel better. You should strictly follow the directions of your medical specialist and should not take less or more than prescribed dose. Inform your doctor of using any other prescription and over-the-counter medicines (diuretics, clozapine, lithium, azathioprine, potassium, indomethacin, etc.) Notify your doctor of having any special medical conditions like allergies, tissue diseases or kidney artery narrowing. Inform your medical specialist if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Ask your medical specialist for the details of using Altace.

Warning for women: Using Altace is not recommended during pregnancy. It is approved to cause fatal harm to human fetus. Do not use Altace if you are breast-feeding. It is not approved that using this medicine is absolutely safe for newborn.

Directions

This medicine should be taken orally. Altace capsules should be stored in cool dark place at a room temperature. Capsule can be rinsed in water or juice. It is recommended to take mixture immediately after it is ready. Try not to miss your regular dose. Do not double-up your regular dose. If you miss your dose, wait until time for next dose comes.

Cautions

Notify your medical specialist of using Altace before having emergency care, surgery, dental treatment or any other medical treatment. Using this medicine may affect ability to drive or perform other potentially hazardous activities. Tell your doctor about using any other prescription or non-prescription drugs. Interaction of Altace and some other certain medicines may lead to unwished consequences. You may need additional monitoring of your health condition. Do not use this medicine if you are breast-feeding. It is not approved that this drug is absolutely safe for newborn.

Possible side effects

Consult your doctor, nurse or pharmacist in case of any side effects appearing during Altace treatment. Taking this medicine sometimes may cause:

• dry cough
• lightheadedness
• dizziness
• diarrhea
• vomiting
• nausea
• irregular heartbeat
• difficulty breathing
• chest pain
• hives
• unusual weakness
• swelling of body parts
• difficulty swallowing
• bruising
• hoarseness

If you take too much

Altace overdose may cause eakness and dizziness. Apply for emergency care or contact your medical specialist if overdose occurred.

Additional information

Follow the directions of your medical specialist. Keep this drug away from the reach of children and pets. Do not give this medicine to others whom it was not prescribed.

Drug interactions may cause side effects or neutralize the treatment. Consult your doctor or pharmacist about the interaction of Altace and other prescription and over-the-counter medicines.
