Plavix

Plavix is used to treat heart attacks. Sometimes it is prescribed to treat other medical conditions.

Notify your doctor of taking any other medicines before starting Plavix treatment. Using this medicine with other prescription and non-prescription drugs may lead to undesired consequences. Notify your medical specialist if you are using warfarin, phenytoin, tolbutamide, fluvastatin, naproxen, tamoxifen and torsemide. Tell your doctor if you have experienced clotting disorders or gastrointestinal bleeding.

Take this drug directly as your medical specialist prescribed you. Do not start or stop taking Plavix without your doctor's approval. Try not to miss your regular dose. Do not double-up your regular dose. If you miss your dose, wait until time of your next dose. Regular dose intake increases the effectiveness of the medicine.

It is not recommended to take Plavix together with aspirin. Consult your medical specialist about possible risks of taking aspirin during Plavix treatment. You may need to stop using aspirin or reduce its regular dose. Notify your medical specialist of using this medicine before having surgery, emergency care, dental treatment or other medical treatment. Inform your doctor if illness occurred. Pregnant and breast-feeding women should first consult to medical specialist. It is not already approved that Plavix is absolutely safe for fetus or newborn. This medicine may pass into breast milk and affect newborn.

Consult your doctor, nurse or pharmacist in case of any side effects appearing during Plavix treatment. Taking this medicine sometimes may cause:

• headache
• yellowing of the skin or eyes
• sore throat
• unusual weakness
• seizures
• unusual paleness
• vaginal bleeding
• black stools.

Apply for emergency care or contact your medical specialist if overdose occurred.

Keep this drug away from the reach of children and pets. Do not give this medicine to others whom it was not prescribed.
