Drug Uses

Lipitor is used to reduce the level of cholesterol in your blood and to prevent the risk of atherosclerosis. The atheroscleroses results in lack of oxygen supply to the parts of the body and leads to chest pain, heart attack, heart disease and strokes.

How Taken

This medicine is taken orally. Consult your doctor for dosage and frequency of intake. Usually average dose is taken once daily. Do not start or stop taking Lipitor without your doctor's approval. Try to keep low-fat diet as directed by your medical specialist.

Warnings/Precautions

Do not take Lipitor before consulting your medical specialist, especially if you have some serious medical conditions like liver disease, blood disorder or muscular disease. Some patients can have an allergy to ingredients of this medicine. Lipitor is not recommended to pregnant women. It is not proved that this medicine does no harm to fetus. Consult your doctor before taking Lipitor if you are pregnant or nursing baby. Components of Lipitor may pass in breast milk and affect your baby. Discuss with your physician possible risks of using this medicine.

Missed Dose

If you missed your regular dose wait for the next scheduled time to take tablet. Do not take two doses at once. Follow the dosing and intake frequency exactly under the prescription of your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

Sometimes side effects may occur while using Lipitor. Contact your medical specialist if you have experienced diarrhea, heartburn, gas, headache, dizziness, stomach pain, muscle pain, unusual weakness, rash, itching or muscle cramps.

Storage

This medicine should be stored in cool place at a room temperature. Keep Lipitor away from moisture in tightly closed container. Do not store this medicine in the bathroom.

Overdose

Get immediate medical care if you have taken more than prescribed quantity of this medicine.
