Mevacor

Mevacor helps to lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels in blood in adults. This medicine may also be prescribed for other conditions treatment.

It is not recommended to combine Mevacor with other medicines in order to avoid undesired circumstances. Do not take Mevacor with the following drugs:

• Macrolide
• Erythromycin
• Warfarin
• Bosentan
• Cyclosporine
• Diltiazem
• Fluconazole
• Verapamil
• Quinupristin
• Bosentan
• Diltiazem
• Troleandomycin
• Amiodarone

Notify your doctor of taking any other prescription and over-the-counter medicines. Inform your doctor of having experienced health problems like allergies, alcohol use, uncontrolled seizures, endocrine problems, severe infections, hypertension, kidney disease or muscle problems. It is not recommended to take Mevacor without doctor's approval. Talk to your doctor if you are nursing newborn in order to avoid unexpected consequences.

Mevacor may be taken with or without food. Use Mevacor exactly as directed by your medical specialist. Do not stop or start taking this medicine without your doctor's approval. It is recommended not to drink grapefruit juice or eat grapefruit during Zocor treatment. This medicine should be stored in dark cool place at a room temperature. Try to take your dose of Mevacor at the same time daily. This will increase the effect of treatment. If you missed your regular dose wait for the next scheduled time to take tablet. Do not take two doses at once. Follow the dosing and intake frequency exactly under the prescription of your doctor.

Notify your medical specialist of taking Mevacor before having surgery, emergency care, dental treatments and some other medical treatment. You may need to pass some additional tests (blood cholesterol level, liver function tests, muscle tests, etc.). Discuss with your doctor all the possible risks of drinking alcohol during Mevacor treatment.

Warning for women: Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant or nursing baby. Mevacor may affect fetus and newborn baby. Ingredients of Mevacor may pass into breast milk and result in death of newborn.

Contact your medical specialist or apply for emergency help if any of side effects listed below took place.

• sore throat
• muscle damage
• yellowing of skin or eyes
• unusual bleeding
• bruishing
• rash
• allergy
• swelling
• itching
• dizziness
• difficulty breathing

If you take too much.

Apply for emergency help in your local poison control center in case if overdose occurred.

Additional information

Contact your medical specialist if this medicine doesn't work. Keep low-fat diet during Mevacor treatment. Do not give your medicine to someone else fpr whom it was not prescribed. Keep this drug away from children and pets.
