Lasix

Common uses

Lasix is used for hypertension treatment. Also it may be prescribed to treat swelling of the body and congestive heart failure.

Before using

Lasix is diuretic class medicine. Excess intake of this medicine may cause water and mineral loss. Consult a doctor if you experience the signs of dehydration (weakness, dry mouth, etc.) Notify your medical specialist of taking any other prescription or non-prescription drugs. Interaction of Lasix and such medicines as digitoxin, infomethacin, ciplatin, parenteral, aminoglycosides and certain anticoagulats may lead to undesired consequences. Discuss with your doctor possible risks if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.

Directions

Lasix may be taken with or without food. Taking this medicine may sometimes result in frequent urination. Try to take your daily dose of Lasix before 6 p.m. This drug should be stored in dark cool place at a room temperature. Store it in tightly closed container.

Try not to miss your regular dose. Each dose should be taken according to directions of your pharmacist or physician. If you miss your dose, wait until time for next dose comes. Do not take 2 doses simultaneously.

You may need to pass some laboratory tests during Lasix treatment. Your doctor may suggest you to perform kidney function, blood glucose or blood electrolytes. Taking Lasix sometimes affects blood sugar. Check your blood sugar regularly if you have diabetes. Follow the directions of your medical specialist. Do not exceed your daily dose in order to avoid dangerous consequences. Sometimes this medicine may affect ability to drive or to perform some other potentially hazardous activities. Keep away from driving car if you are not sure of your condition. Interaction of Lasix and some other medicines or alcohol may affect your condition. Taking this medicine may result in fainting, lightheadedness or dizziness. Try to avoid staying on the sun or doing any exercises. Use special protection cloths and sunburn creams if you cannot avoid direct sunbeams. Before taking Lasix notify your doctor of being pregnant or breast-feeding. Consult your medical specialist if you are planning to become pregnant. Lasix passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor if you are nursing newborn in order to avoid unexpected consequences.

Consult your doctor, nurse or pharmacist in case of any side effects appearing during Lasix treatment. Taking this medicine sometimes may cause:

• nausea
• lightheadedness
• dizziness
• diarrhea
• muscle cramps
• loss of appetite
• vomiting
• dry mouth
• weakness
• unusual thirst

Lasix overdose may cause dizziness, weakness, irregular heartbeat, dry mouth and unusually frequent urination. Apply for emergency care or contact your medical specialist if overdose occurred.

Keep this drug away from the reach of children and pets. Do not give this medicine to others whom it was not prescribed.
