Drug Uses

Prevacid is prescribed for patients with erosive esophagitis, stomach ulcers, intestinal ulcers, Zollinger-Ellison syndrom and other conditions caused by excessive amount of acid produced in the stomach.

How Taken

Prevacid capsules should be taken orally once daily. Take this medicine before your regular meals. Follow the directions of your medical specialist. Do not exceed your regular dose. Do not crush or chew the capsule. This medicine should be taken whole. Do not start or stop taking this medicine without your doctor's approval.

Warnings/Precautions

Notify your doctor of any other medical conditions. You may need additional monitoring of your body during treatment. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Discuss with your doctor possible risks of using Prevacid during pregnancy or breast-feeding.

Missed Dose

If you missed your regular dose, wait for the next scheduled time to take capsule. Do not take two doses at once. Follow the dosing and intake frequency exactly under the prescription of your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

Consult your doctor, nurse or pharmacist in case of any side effects appearing during treatment. Taking this medicine sometimes may cause:

• allergic reaction
• abdominal pain
• headache
• dizziness
• nausea
• diarrhea

Storage

Prevacid should be stored in dry and cool place at a room temperature.

Overdose

Apply for emergency care or contact your medical specialist if overdose occurred.
