Drug Uses

Prilosec is prescribed for patients with esophagus and stomach problems, persistent heartburn, erosive esophagitis, GERD ulcers, Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome and some other medical conditions.

How Taken

Prilosec should be taken orally before regular meals. This medicine comes in form of tablet. Each tablet contains 20mg of Omeprazole and some other inactive ingredients. Usually treatment lasts 14 days. Follow the directions provided by your medical specialist.

Warnings/Precautions

Notify your doctor of any other medical conditions (allergies, liver problems, stomach problems, pregnancy, breast-feeding). Ask your medical specialist of possible risks of using Prilosec during pregnancy or breast-feeding.

Missed Dose

If you missed your regular dose, wait for the next scheduled time to take tablet. Do not take two doses at once. Follow the dosing and intake frequency exactly under the prescription of your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

Contact your medical specialist if any of side effects listed below took place:

• headache
• dizziness
• constipation
• nausea
• diarrhea
• gas
• loss of appetite
• back pain
• joint pain
• difficulty sleeping
• chest pain
• cough
• changes in vision
• urination problems
• nervousness
• fatigue
• ringing in the ears
• unusual thirst
• swelling of the stomach

Storage

This medicine should be stored in a dark and dry place at a room temperature below 86 degrees F.

Overdose

Get immediate medical care if you have taken more than prescribed quantity of this medicine. Overdosed may cause unusual sweating, rapid heartbeat, seizures, blurred vision and confusion.

More Information

Notify your doctor of using any other prescription and over-the-counter medicines. Prilosec is not recommended to use in patients with history of heartburn a week.
