Caverta

Common uses

Caverta is used to treat male erectile problems and impotence. It is not prescribed to women and children. It acts by blood flowing into the penis. Using this medicine results in strong erection. Caverta does not protect against HIV infection and other STDs.

Before using

Notify your medical specialist of using any other prescription or over-the-counter drugs (especially nitroglycerin, nitroprusside, nitrates and recreational drugs). Ask your doctor for details and consequences of drug interactions. Inform your doctor of using high blood pressure medicines, HIV protease inhibitors, alpha-blocker medicines, mebefadil, azole antifuntals, cimetidine, rifamycins, erythromycin, any other medicines for sexual dysfunction treatment. Do not start or stop using Caverta without your medical specialist's approval. Notify your doctor of having any medical conditions including sickle cell anemia, eye problems, kidney disease, liver disease, penis conditions, history of painful erection, active stomach ulcers, arrhythmia, bleeding disorders, coronary artery disease, idiopatic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis, aortic stenosis, blood pressure problems, allergies and heart failure.

Directions

Caverta should be taken not later than one-half hour before sexual activity. Your medical specialist can prescribe you individual intake scheme. Recommended intake frequency is once daily. It is recommended not to eat grapefruits or to drink grapefruit juice during Caverta treatment. Ask your doctor for details of drug-food interactions. Caverta should be stored in cool, dark and dry place at a room temperature. Keep this medicine in tightly closed container.

Cautions

Using Caverta may affect the ability to drive and to perform other potentially hazardous activities. Sometimes using this medicine may cause vision changes, lightheadedness, headache or dizziness. It is recommended to lessen the amount of alcoholic beverages while treatment. Do not take Caverta and any other prescription or over-the-counter drugs at once. Using Caverta with alcohol may lead to unwished side effects. The risk of experience side effects in elder patients is much higher. Notify your doctor of having experienced any allergic reactions to any of the components of Caverta.

Possible side effects

Consult your doctor, nurse or pharmacist in case of any side effect appearing during Caverta treatment. Taking this medicine sometimes may cause:

• dizziness
• diarrhea
• lightheadedness
• headache
• heartburn
• stomach upset
• blurred vision
• fainting
• nausea
• chest pain
• vision changes

If you take too much

Taking too much of Caverta may result in fainting, dizziness or prolonged erection. Apply for emergency care or contact your medical specialist if overdose occurred.

Additional information

Keep this drug away from the reach of children and pets. Do not give this medicine to others whom it was not prescribed.
